WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER Calidris fuscicollis

  • White-rumped-Sandpiper

An annual visitor to the Falklands which can be seen in large parties, beteen September and March, running and darting on sandy beaches, tidal mud flats and kelp banks on beaches.

Length: 17 cm ( 6.5 inches)

Breeds in North America on Arctic coasts, migrating south as far as Tierra del Fuego southern islands of the Beagle Channel, and as far as the Falklands.
